The Royal British Legion is the UK's leading Armed Forces charity and one of its largest membership organisations. Members get together through the network of branches and clubs all over the country and overseas to participate in social, fundraising and welfare activities. You do not need to have served in the armed forces to become a member of The Royal British Legion 

Remembrance for 2023 in Minchinhampton

Minchinhampton Branch are pleased to be able to advise of this year's Remembrancetide commemorations in the town:

Saturday 11th November 2023 - Armistice Day - There will be a short service of remembrance held at the Memorial Cross in Minchinhampton High Street starting at 10.55am. The High Street will not be closed to traffic and attendees should proceed with caution.

Sunday 12th November 2023 - Remembrance Sunday - There will be a church service held in Holy Trinity Church starting at 09.45am. At the end of the service, local community organisations will follow the Royal British Legion standard in a procession along Bell Lane to the Memorial Cross where a formal Act of Remembrance will be conducted. After the two-minute silence, representatives of local organisations will be invited to lay their poppy wreaths around the memorial. Members of the public are invited to join The Minchinhampton Parish Council and The Royal British Legion for the Act of Remembrance.

In August 2021, Minchinhampton Branch passed the milestone of 100 years of service within the community of Minchinhampton.

Next Branch Meeting

The next Branch meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 28th February 2024, and will be held in the Cotswold Club, Minchinhampton High Street starting at 7.30pm.

Membership is open to everyone. If you have an interest in the objectives of the Legion and want to help and support those who have served and their families, come and join us. We welcome men and women of all ages, whether they have a Service background or not. A large membership is vital for our welfare work and also for our political voice.  It is important to preserve the Legion to ensure it's there to help beneficiaries in years to come.

There is much more to the Legion than the once a year Poppy Appeal, as money needs to come in all year round to keep pace with what is spent on aiding current and retired Service personnel and their dependants' calls for assistance. In 2011 the Legion answered more than 160,000 calls for help from Service personnel past and present, and their dependants.

Legion membership ensures that

• Remembrance is kept alive and that the sacrifices our brave Service men and women have made are never forgotten.
• The ex-Service community have a voice and that their concerns are brought to the public eye.

Becoming a member also provides the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of activities and events held locally, regionally and nationally throughout the year.
