We are pleased to announce that in November 2009 our branch collected £10,203.12 (and - monies are still coming in!). This is a remarkable acheivement during a time of economic difficulty and we were only allowed to collect for one week before Remembrance Day.
The bulk of the collection work was done by members of the Branch, the Women’s Section, and a few members of the public who kindly volunteered and static points in shops, schools and factories in the area. Once again, we offer a big 'thank you' to the management of Chelmsley Wood Shopping Centre, who allowed us to use an empty shop premises to store the poppies and wreathes free of charge.
We now go into a quieter period for the club and The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, but please remember that donations can be made to the Poppy Appeal all year round, not just on the build up period to Remembrance Sunday. Please be generous with your donations. Every little helps.
Anyone interested in helping in the next Poppy Appeal should contact us.
