History

For many years there were 2 Legion Branches in Carlisle. The original Carlisle Club and in later years the Stanwix and St Ann's Branch was formed north of the River Eden.

In 2005, it was decided to negotiate an amalgamation of the 2 branches and, in October 2005, the AGM agreed that the merger should take place. The new branch was formed during 2006.

For the record, the Minutes of Meetings and other documents belonging to the Stanwix and St Ann's Branch were passed to the Cumbria County Archives in January 2007 for safe keeping.
