Chelsea Flower Show
Birmingham City Council's Parks Department and horticultural charity Thrive in partnership with the Legion have won Gold and the President's Award with their WW1 Centenary inspired garden at Chelsea in 2014.
Visited by HM The Queen, the garden includes items associated with Birmingham during the First World War. More information about the garden is available in the press release. Photos courtesy of Jas Sensi (copyright).
The Legion was previously represented at Chelsea in 2008 when the Leeds City Council entry won a Flora Silver Gilt award for "The Largest Room in the House" based upon the famous garden at Talbot House ('Toc H') in Poperinghe near Ypres, where British soldiers were able to rest between periods on the front line during WW1.
