The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall visit Wootton Bassett

TRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall visited Wootton Bassett today. They met members of the Wootton Bassett Branch of The Royal British Legion and visit the Cross Keys pub, which regularly looks after bereaved families on repatriation days.
The repatriation cortege of Rifleman Peter Aldridge, 19 of 4th Battalion The Rifles, who was killed on 22 January 2010 and Lance Corporal Daniel Cooper, 22 from Hereford, of 3rd Battalion The Rifles, who was killed on 24 January 2010, passed through the town just before 2.00pm today.
Hundreds of Royal British Legion members, veterans, shopkeepers and residents lined the streets to pay their respects - as has become customary after such repatriations.
"The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall want to thank the people of Wootton Bassett for their unstinting support of the Armed Forces over the past two years," said a Clarence House spokesman.
"In particular their Royal Highnesses want to meet some of those who regularly take part in the town's spontaneous repatriation ceremonies."
There wias also be a short ceremony at the town's war memorial.
