Croydon's call for lost loved ones

05 July 2010

The New Addington Branch of The Royal British Legion is calling out for friends and family of lost loved ones to take part in an event at Mitcham Road Cemetery in Croydon.

On Tuesday 13 July 2010 at 11.00am, the Knowland family will be celebrating the spiritual return of Lt George Arthur Knowland, Victoria Cross holder, to his family grave.

Friends and family members of lost loved ones that are buried in the cemetery have been invited to come along to the memorial service and place crosses on their graves.

Michael Lyons, Chairman of the New Addington Royal British Legion Branch, said: "There are around 190 war graves from the First World War in the cemetery along with approximately 150 from the second World War. It would be really moving if old friends and family could come and honour their loved ones."

If you would like more information about the event, please contact Stephanie Davenport on sdavenport@britishlegion.org.uk or 020 7840 2443.
