The Legion lights up London's South Bank
10 November 2009
London's South Bank will light up in poppy scarlet at sunset on Wednesday 11 November to the Armistice Day commemorations which mark the passing of the last First World War veterans and the passing of the torch to the Afghan generation of the Armed Forces community being supported by the Legion's Poppy Appeal.
The Royal British Legion will light-paint the iconic Merlin Entertainments London Eye red and illuminate the famous Shell national headquarters with a poppy projection and the message "Please Remember. Wear a Poppy."
Shell has kindly supported this project by meeting the cost of the projection which will light up the building from 4.30pm. At the same time, the London Eye will glow poppy red to the end of Remembrancetide.
