Hovis' Poppy Appeal activity raises £130,000 for the Legion
28 January 2010
Premier Foods' Hovis have announced that their Poppy Appeal fundraising activities raised £130,654.57 for The Royal British Legion.

The largest contribution to the money raised was from the Hovis Seed Sensations bread and rolls. Exclusive Poppy Appeal packs were sold during October and November with 4p from every pack sold pledged to the Poppy Appeal. The campaign was supported by a TV advert voiced by British actor David Jason.
Staff from Premier Foods got actively involved in the fundraising too, participating in The Legion's annual 'Pedal to Paris' cycle event, which raised £20,000, and also volunteering as Poppy collectors during the appeal. In addition to this Poppy collection tins were placed in all Premier Foods manufacturing, distribution and head office sites.
Presenting the cheque, Jon Goldstone, Hovis' Marketing Director said: "I'd like to thank both our loyal customers and our staff for their generosity. Whether you bought a pack of Poppy seed rolls or participated in another way it has all contributed to this fantastic amount for The Poppy Appeal."
