Time to applaud - and support - our Armed Forces, says Legion

The Royal British Legion called on the nation to applaud - but also to support - its Armed Forces community on Armed Forces Day.
"With, again, the tragic deaths of Service personnel; with a change in military leadership putting a British Lieutenant General in temporary command of all NATO forces in Afghanistan; and with our Prime Minister calling for the Military Covenant to be renewed and enshrined in law - it has been a momentous week for Britain's Armed Forces," said Chris Simpkins, Director General of The Royal British Legion.
"It is absolutely appropriate that we take time on Armed Forces Day to reflect on, honour and celebrate the immense contribution of our Armed Forces - past, present and future - and consider how we can give them our full support, as a nation and as individuals."
