Legion shortlisted for three CIPR awards
12 April 2010
The Royal British Legion has been shortlisted for three prestigious awards in the PR industry's "Oscars" including one for the UK's most outstanding in-house PR team.
The Chartered Institute of Public Relations has selected The Royal British Legion for consideration in three awards categories:
- Outstanding In-House PR Team
- Best Event (for Silence in the Square)
- Best External Publication (for Legion Magazine)
"We've always suspected that our PR team was not that bad," said Director of Corporate Communications Stuart Gendall. "Now the industry's most prestigious awards programme shares our suspicions."
The CIPR's 25th annual Excellence Awards will take place on 16 June at The Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel in London.
The Legion has been successful in the past three consecutive awards ceremonies, taking home the gold in 2007 for the Poppy Appeal, in 2008 for its Honour the Covenant campaign and in 2009 for its Poppy Appeal launch live from Basra.
"Here's fingers crossed for all of our shortlisted nominees," added Mr Gendall. "To be considered for a CIPR Excellence Award is an honour in itself - and one that is richly shared by our PR team, all involved in the Silence in the Square project and the editorial team at Legion Magazine."
In related news, the Legion's Fundraising Division has been shortlisted for two Institute of Fundraising National Awards for their work in the past year.
