Friends of the Forces regional award winners announced

Earlier this year, the Legion launched a major national and regional award scheme called 'Friends of the Forces' to recognise the contributions made by some of Britain's most loyal volunteers.

We received over 400 nominations for people who have gone out of their way to help care, support, campaign or raise funds for any of Britain's Service personnel and veterans.

The regional winners have all been chosed and are being announced over the next few weeks.

Northern Ireland
Amanda Binnie won the Individual award, The Glentoran Community Trust won in the Community Group category and The News Letter in the Corporate category. There was no award in the Youth category for Northern Ireland.

South region
Tristan Nichols won the Individual award, Keaton Peppiatt won in the Youth category, the town of Wootton Bassett in the Community Group category and The Millers Collection in the Corporate category.

East region
Lt Col (Retd) Tom Ridgway won in the Individual category, two pupils from The FitzWimarc School in Rayleigh,  Ben Coombes and Nathan Bull won in the Youth category,  The Hamilton Project won in the Community Group category and Tesco won in the Corporate category.

North region
Charlotte Bradford won the Individual award, Croft Primary School won in the Youth category, Support our Veterans won in the Community Group category and Anvil Locksmiths in Whitley Bay won in the Corporate category.

Midlands
Carol Jones won in the Individual category, the Loughborough Students RAG won the Community Group award category and DHL Droitwich won in the Corporate category.

Wales
Stanley Power won the Individual award, Clwyd and Gwynedd Army Cadet Force won in the Youth category,  Gurnos Nursery School won in the Community Group category and the Welsh Rugby Union won in the Corporate category.

London
Richard Knott won the Individual award, Charles Darwin School won in the Youth category, Pryors Bank Café won in the Community category and Lloyd's of London is the Corporate category winner.

Scotland
Mr George Walker won the Individual award, Newburgh Primary School won in the Youth category, Mark Wright Project won in the Community category and Robert Wiseman Dairies won in the Corporate category.
