Young double amputee presents posy to HM The Queen

17 May 2010

Lydia Cross presents a posy to HM The Queen at the 2010 Windsor TattooNine year-old Lydia Cross, a beneficiary of The Royal British Legion who lost both legs to meningitis, presented a posy to Her Majesty The Queen on Saturday, 15 May at The Windsor Castle Royal Tattoo.

Lydia, whose father served in the Armed Forces, has campaigned tirelessly for The Royal British Legion and was invited to attend the event in order to represent the Legion, the official charity of the Royal Tattoo.

Lydia helped to launch the 2009 Poppy Appeal in her home county of Devon, where she appeared with Royal Marine triple amputee Mark Ormrod, who lost both legs and an arm in a landmine explosion in Afghanistan.

Couture jewellery designer Kleshna donated a specially designed poppy headband for Lydia to wear during her presentation to The Queen. They have previously created poppy brooches for X Factor panellists Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue and for the female stars at the premiere of the James Bond film Quantum of Solace.
