Legion shortlisted for Institute of Fundraising Awards

13 April 2010

The Royal British Legion has been shortlisted for two Institute of Fundraising National Awards for 2010 in the categories of Best Business-Charity Partnership Campaign for the 'Here's to our soldiers' ad with Hovis and Best Direct Mail Campaign for the Remembrance Cross direct mail campaign.

Sponsored by Dataforce Charities, with ThirdSectorJobs.co.uk as the media partners, the National Awards are the only awards created by fundraisers for fundraisers and are among the most prestigious in the sector.

IofF Awards 2009It is the second consecutive year that the Legion has been nominated for the IoF Awards, as the Legion's Fundraising Division scooped the Royal Mail-sponsored Best Use of Direct Mail award in 2009 for its Flanders Field of Poppies direct mail campaign which raised more than £2.3 million.

"We're convinced that our fundraising team is second to none, and these nominations confirm that view," said the Legion's Director of National Events and Fundraising, Russell Thompson OBE. "Here's hoping that the fundraising team's hard work and achievements are recognised on the night."

Winners will be announced at a gala dinner held on Monday 5 July, the first night of the Institute's three-day National Convention.

In related news, the Legion's Corporate Communications Division was recognised on Monday with three nominations in the Chartered Institute of Public Relations Excellence Awards for its work over the past year.
