Hovis Bread and Legion win 2010 Business Charity Award
01 July 2010
The Corporate and Trusts Team from The Royal British Legion's Fundraising Department picked up the top award at the 2010 Business Charity Awards last night for its partnership with Hovis during the Poppy Appeal.
Premier Foods' Hovis, in tandem with the Legion,
scooped first place in the Cause-Related Marketing category for its
Hovis Seed Sensations bread and rolls, sold during October and
November with 4p per loaf being donated to the Poppy Appeal.
The campaign raised £130,654.57 for the Legion and was supported by a TV advert voiced by British actor David Jason.
Staff from Premier Foods got actively involved in the fundraising too, participating in the Legion's annual 'Pedal to Paris' cycle event, which raised £12,437, and also volunteering as Poppy collectors during the appeal. In addition to this, Poppy collection tins were placed in all Premier Foods manufacturing, distribution and head office sites.
Joseph Dublin, Head of Corporate and Trusts Relations, said: "We're incredibly proud of this recognition of a great partnership, and we look forward to working with Premier Foods again during Poppy Appeal 2010."
The prestigious Business Charity Awards are a new set of awards to recognise the outstanding contribution to charities by the corporate world.
They have been launched by Third Sector and the Institute of Fundraising and are designed to reward companies that lead the way in their relationships with the voluntary sector.
