90 year-old joins Legion '90 jump for 90' sky dive

30 July 2010

Joan Harding, from Colchester in Essex, will be jumping out of an airplane on her 90th birthday to mark The Royal British Legion's 90th Anniversary.

90jumpfor90Mrs Harding said: "I am extremely excited about taking part in a sky dive to celebrate The Royal British Legion's 90th anniversary year and I can't think of a better way to celebrate my 90th birthday. I would like to encourage anyone else with a hint of daredevil to sign up too - this will be an unforgettable way to raise money for one of the UK's most significant charities."

The Royal British Legion is the UK's leading service charity providing financial, social and emotional support to Service people past and present and their families. The Dorset Legion branch is now looking for 90 volunteers to take part in it's '90 Jump for 90' Red Devil's sky dive.

Louise Ravula of The Royal British Legion said: "As the Legion reaches its 90th year, we've never been needed more. Recent conflicts mean that more and more we're supporting the Afghan generation of the Armed Forces and their families and we'll be there for them now and for the rest of their lives.

"The '90 Jump for 90' sky dive is a unique way to raise money and provide participants with an exhilarating challenge. We welcome anyone with a desire for an adrenaline rush to take part and help us raise funds so we can continue to deliver our important welfare work in 2011 and beyond."

The '90 Jump for 90' Red Devils sky dives are taking place on Wednesday 22, Thursday 23 and Friday 24 September 2010 at Dunkeswell airfield near Honiton, Devon.

To secure a place on the '90 Jump for 90' team or to find out how to sponsor the team please call 020 3207 2417 or email lravula@britishlegion.org.uk.
