About the Legion
Festival of Remembrance 2010
13 November 2010
This annual Festival,
held at the Royal Albert Hall, commemorates and honours all
those who have lost their lives in conflicts, and is both a moving
and enjoyable evening hosted by The Royal British Legion.
There is a matinee (2.00pm) and an evening performance (7.00pm) - both are exactly the same except that the Royal Family attend only the evening performance.
Tickets are no longer available for this event but Huw Edwards will present coverage of the event to be broadcast on BBC One at 9.10pm on Saturday 13 November.
This year's programme features The Massed Bands of The Guards Division, The Festival Chorus (Langham Arts Choir & Wimbledon Choral Society), The Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines, The Soldiers with special guest Hywel Dowsell performing "I Will Carry You", Kerry Ellis and guitarist Brian May performing "Anthem" and Hayley Westenra with Bernard Cribbens performing "For The Fallen".
A highlight of the Festival will be the Book of Remembrance being carried by Lance Corporal Ram Patten and accompanied by the March For Honour teams.
A special video or DVD of the Festival is made available soon after the event from the Legion's Poppy Shop - www.poppyshop.org.uk.
