Festival of Remembrance 2009
07 November 2009
This annual
Festival, held at the Royal Albert Hall, commemorates and
honours all those who have lost their lives in conflicts, and is
both a moving and enjoyable evening. There is a matinee (2pm)
and an evening performance - both are exactly the same except that
the Royal Family attend only the evening performance.
Tickets for the matinee performance opened for sale on 1
September and immediately sold out.
Tickets for the evening performance are distributed by ballot to
Legion members.
The Festival of Remembrance will air on BBC 1 on Saturday 7 November at 9.15pm and also be broadcast on Radio 2. Please check your local guides for details. The Festival is just one item in an extensive Remembrance programme broadcast by the BBC.
This year's festival will feature The Massed Bands of The Guards
Division, The Festival Chorus (Epworth Choir and Wimbledon Choral
Society) and The Central Band of the Royal Air
Force with the following performances:
The Soldiers - "Coming Home"
Hayley Westenra & Fron Male Voice Choir - "We'll Meet
Again"
Jamie Cullum - "Land of Begin Again"
Faryl - "The Prayer"
More details of this year's Festival programme, are available in the latest press release.
