for a unique afternoon and evening's entertainment in the
heart of Sussex at Ardingly Showground on Saturday 4 September.
Five of Britain's top military bands on parade together with the
sensational Hayley Westenra and the classical
singing quartet Blake, live in concert.
From 1.00pm, there will be a huge variety of exhibitions and sideshows including classic cars, historic military vehicles, the 'real' Dad's Army, exhibition by artist David Shepherd and Swingtime Sweethearts performing. In the late afternoon, the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain will be honoured with the flypast of a Spitfire.
At
6.00pm, the Tunes of Glory Military Tattoo will take place in
the Ardingly Arena with the Pipes & Drums of the Black
Watch, The Royal British Legion Youth Band Brentwood, the Kohima
Band of the Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment, Pipers
from the Gurkhas and the Band of HM Royal Marines on parade. An
hour and a half later, all eyes will turn to the concert
stage where a 40-strong concert orchestra will perform a stirring
selection of music and then accompany popular classical quartet
Blake.
Star soprano Hayley Westenra headlines the show with guest appearances by June Whitfield and Michael Jayston. The finale will be a spectacular laser show and fireworks display with the return of the military bands. Tunes of Glory promises to be a brilliant afternoon and evening of excitement, spectacle and colour, great music and great memories.
