Friends of the Forces Awards

The Friends of the Forces Awards were launched in February 2010 by The Royal British Legion with the support of Prince Harry to recognise those from all walks of life across the UK who have made an exceptional contribution to the well-being and appreciation of HM Armed Forces and their families.

Legion members and the public were invited to nominate any friends, neighbours, family members or colleagues who have gone out of their way to help care, support, campaign or raise funds for any of Britain's Service personnel and veterans. We received over 400 nominations!

Stuart Gendall, Director of Corporate Communications, said: "Up and down the country, day in and day out, individuals are going out of their way to do their bit to help our Armed Forces family. Some organise events to show their support; while others campaign on their behalf, or raise money to help out. The Friends of the Forces awards are an opportunity for us to acknowledge and say thank you for all of their help and support."

Awards have been handed out in four different categories: Individual, Young Individual (those aged 17 or under on 1 July 2010), Community Group and Commercial Organisation in 8 regions across the country. View details on our regional winners page.
