Criteria

The Friends of the Forces Awards were open to individuals of any age, community groups, and commercial organisations. All individuals, groups or organisations must live or be based in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland. For further details on the regions please see below.

Category criteria

The four award categories are:

  1. Individual
  2. Young Person (anyone under 17 on 1 July 2010)
  3. Community Group (a charity, local council, school or volunteer group)
  4. Commercial Group (a business)

We are looking for individuals, groups and organisations that have contributed to the well-being and appreciation of the Armed Forces. For example this could include people who have:

  • planned and delivered some form of help, advice or support to the Armed Forces family
  • organised a significant event either celebrating, or fundraising for the Armed Forces family
  • educated their community about the important role of the Armed Forces family and the sacrifices they make
  • organised an event of remembrance
  • campaigned on behalf of the Armed Forces family
  • promoted the values of The Royal British Legion

Location criteria

Each entry was placed into the following nine regions:

  • London
  • North
  • East
  • South
  • Midlands
  • Scotland
  • Northern Ireland
  • Wales

Nominations were allocated to one of the above regions according to the postcode provided. Please refer to the regional map below.
